Smile Locating Family

Hello everyone! I am looking for help locating my relatives there in Jamaica. I do not know where to start. My last name is DaCosta. I know that there are alot of DaCostas there in Jamaica but I could probably narrow it down with the help of someone there. I have specific names and dates that could help. I just dont know anyone in Jamaica. If you are willing to help me then please post a reply or email me. Thank you so much for any help!

Re: Locating Family

have just seen your message and know how frustrating it can be. i am in the same situation. trying to find my relatives while im in the uk with no contacts in jamaica.
ive posted messages with : genealogy.com (they have a board for jamaica and ive seen the dacosta name on that)
ackee.com (have a message board)
ancestory.com (have a message board for jamaicia)
other sources are the registrar general department in jamaica, thay have a website also www.rgd.gov.jm (look at the genealogical research page)
or jamaican family research website is quite helpful your surname is definatly on that.
Lds have lists of all bdm's on file if you have a local research library near you, try them as they have records for jamaica.
You could also try the Gleaner or the Star newspapers to place an ad for you and also try radio tations such as sunday contact tel: ja 816 926 2178

good luck with your search, let me know if you find anything or anyone!!!
