Nba Brawl

It's about 2 weeks old now but they still play the hell out of it to death on some of the sports shows. the pacers and pistons fight that took place in the stands two friday nights ago. if anybody seen it i want to know what u think about the fight and the supsensions of the players.

david stern the "the big boss" of the NBA gave out some harsh supsensions to the pacers players. RON ARTEST: the whole season without pay. STEVEN JACKSON 25 games and jermaine o'neal 30 games. Ben wallace who started the whole thing only got 6 games.

FOR those that missed it. ben wallace shoved Ron Artest in his neck, artest didn't do anything just walked away and laid down on the scores table. while walking towards the scores table (which is on the sideline) fans was yelling and screaming and only god knows what they were calling him. a angry fan threw a cup of water at him which hit Artest. after that it was on. Artest went into the stands (ran pass the right guy and hit the wrong guy) to wup some ass. his teammates followed him into the stands swinging punches on season tickets holders. fans were swinging back, water, punches were everywhere. im talking about fans came out onto the court getting laid out.

now the police are involved in this, lawsuits is getting ready to be filed and maybe some jailtime when it's all over.

I UNDERSTAND what Artest did and why he did it. but what i don't understand is why he would run after the guy in the stands and not stand up to ben wallac (6'11 250lbs solid rock). but for real, i don't think this man should be without pay for the whole season. just for the fact he was hit with an object from an idiot in the stands and he was just reacting.

i think david stern is trying to save his own ass. he don't want to look bad in front of all those people in those meetings, how is he going to explain black folks going into the stands knockin cats out.

SHOUTOUT: THE PACERS, THEY LUCKY THAT WATER DIDN'T HIT A.I.

Re: Nba Brawl

Well, since I don't know what the fans might have said to Ron, I'll just say this. Sometimes those "season ticket holders" take s*** too far. Let somebody throw a water bottle (infested with their nasty saliva) at me, and it would be just as on. He walked away from his opponent because he was trying to be the bigger man. But, for a fan to throw a water bottle AT a player? Now, that's insane. The FAN started the whole thing to me. Especially, since Artest had already decided it wasn't worth it to get involved in a fight with Wallace.

Artest knew why Wallace went after him. He flagrantly fouled the man on his way to the basket. He knew he was in the wrong for that, so I guess he didn't feel like pursuing that fight.

It's not just about looking bad in meetings. If fans don't feel safe coming to an NBA game, the NBA will lose some of it's appeal, and ultimately money (risk of sponsors pulling out etc.). That would ultimately hurt all connected to the game - fans, players etc. The authorities - the league, and the law, have to take steps to asure the public that they are working to hold those responsible for the incident, accountable for their actions. The authorities have to assure the public that they are taking steps to prevent any future incidents like that. Part of that is improving security etc. and part of it is sending a message to other players in the league and the public that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated.

No doubt, there's politics at play as well, and maybe keeping the man from getting paid for the entire season may be harsh. But from the reports, they make it appear that Artest had a serious problem with controlling his anger and outbursts, so maybe it's a kindof "last straw" situation.
