Son's HS varsity lacrosse team has their opening game of the season this evening, then they'll be in Miami all next week for their spring break tourney. Before each game, they have a team dinner at a local restaurant (Glory Days Sports Bar & Grill). I'm treating myself to a day off today, but I volunteered to help out with the dinner this afternoon--filling glasses, working the serving line, that sort of thing. I also volunteered to help out at the concession stand at the girls varsity LAX game before the boys game, but they said they got that covered.

They always do it right around Spring break don't they?

They didn't come right out and say it, but I know the real reason was they didn't want me anywhere near the girls.

Son, Chris, and his mom spent the weekend and today visiting the university he plans to attend next fall, a 5-hour drive from home. The school doesn't have a school-sanctioned lacrosse program, but does have a LAX club team, which he's very interested in. On Saturday, he attended one of the team's games and met the players and coach, who gave him a warm welcome and encouraged him to join the team in the fall. In fact, it turns out that one of his HS teammates who graduated last year attends the school and plays on the LAX team. He and Chris went to a party Sat. night with the lacrosse team and ice hockey team. Of course, there was beer at the party. Chris said the 21-year-olds hung out on the front porch drinking and that everybody else under 21 stayed inside drinking. Chris said that he, of course, refused all offers of beer...righttttt. He and his mom spent Sunday getting acquainted with the campus and the town, and today he attended a scheduled campus tour.

Of course, all of this won't happen till next fall, but already Wahoo is suffering the pangs of empty-nest syndrome.

Awwwww......hugs, Wahoo. Hang in there.

Well, it's official, Chris has decided to attend the school he visited over the weekend. Oh, and you're not going to believe this! GG (if you're paying attention), remember the pic I posted of the lacrosse tournament a month or two ago, Chris' teammate with the big feet that you remarked about? Well, it so happens that he was accepted by the same school, and he & Chris are going to be roommates! Isn't that just un-freakin-believable?

And tonite's game was covered by a sports reporter from The Washington Post and will be televised! Can't wait to watch it on TV!

I mentioned in another thread that my son's playing on a men's team this summer. Their game tomorrow night doesn't even start till 10:00 p.m.! (arghh...) They'll be taking on the Virginia Tech team. I saw those guys at the last game. They're giants! They looked like the starting lineup of the Greenbay Packers! It's gonna be a long nite...
