will the reggae boyz ever get their act together??
Another world cup is about to begin and the question that comes to mind... Could Jamaica have made it if they were more serious abt their play??
what is it that is holding back the Reggae Boyz??
I would have to say what we lack is a serious local league.... We have thew NPL.. but it is nothing like the EPL, La Liga or Series A,....
we need a league in which players treat their teams as bankers treat their offices... THis is a job and if they don't put in the work their family doesn't get to eat.... because I believe their is still a huge population (if not all) of the players in the NPL who since they aren't paid enough they dont have to work other regular jobs as well... so they treat the NPL as a hobby.... so they dont really get what they should out of the game... serious experince...
So the question I pose to you is... Should we be putting a higher emphasis on our local football league?? should we be funding it better?? and will the outcome be any different if we are to do this (increase funding/salaries/emphasis) ??
I think this would have a great increase in the performance of our players... because look at those few players on the Reggae Boyz squad who play in the EPL like Ricardo Gardner (Bolton Wanderers)... his level of play is very good esp. for his age... could we be generating a Wayne Rooney (MAn Utd/ England), a Totti (AS Roma/Italy), a Thierry Henry (Arsenal/France) if we had a much better paid and more serious league??
