Winter Olympics - Jamaica Talk

I'm not a skiing enthusiast. I've skiied a few times--downhill and cross-country--but I don't find any sport where I'm freezing my cojones off enjoyable. Yet, I'm getting really pumped up about watching the Winter Oympics in Torino, Italy. There's a redhead kid from California--Shaun White--a snowboarder and skateboader (and he looks like your stereotypical geeky skateboarder) who's absolutely incredible and is virtually guaranteed to win the gold in the halfpipe. Can't wait to watch it!

I caught a little bit of the opening ceremonies replay last night and I was pretty impressed with some of it. Mostly it was boring but the pyrotechnics were pretty amazing! Things have come a long way....I remember back in 1988 when the Olympics were here in Calgary and I was a performer in the Opening Ceremonies....we didn't have fireworks!

I'm really looking forward to the hockey in the Olympics. I remember in 2002 Canada won gold in both mens and womens. You have no idea how a city gets when their team is in a gold medal game.....everywhere shuts down. At the malls nobody is shopping, they're all crowded around the TV screens in the electronics stores. Its such a great time.

Hey watch it!!! I was only 16 when I was in those opening ceremonies!

Speaking of Olympics.....Saturday the Canadian women's hockey team beat Italy 16 - 0!!!!!!

So sad for Michelle Kwan They shouldn't have given her the spot to begin with. Happy for the little girl who is gonna get a chance now!

What happened to Michelle Kwan? I haven't been watching. I just know we won a gold medal yesterday.

Fell in practice re injured her groin!!! She is out now gave up her spot. The new girl will fly in a couple of days. To take her place on the team Press conference was early this morning

We all know its gonna come down to Canada vs USA in hockey. That's the only game that matters.

Watched the snowboarding tonight! Its a personal favorite in our house! Congrats to Sean White on the Gold!!! Shocked that Apollo Ono didn't qualify in his short track speed skating.

Well Wahoo yes I do have pics but back in the stone ages there was no digital stuff so I'd have to find a place to get them scanned. You might have to wait til next weekend when I have time. Oh and it won't ONLY be 80's hair you get to see......I HAD BRACES TOO!!!!! LMFAO!!!

Well they did it! They took a silver medal and I have no doubt it was all because of the Jamaican brake man! That's what happens when they expedite a Canadian Visa.....maybe they should do that for Russel too.

Okay, more Canadian flavour!

Regarding the women's hockey team - there has been a lot of talk that they should be taking it easy on their opponents because the scores have been so lop-sided.

What do you think?

I think its a load of CRAP that they would tell them to take it easy!!!! If we're OBVIOUSLY killing the competition then so be it!! We can't help it if we're smokin!

Another proud moment for me was a guy that works for my company won a gold medal the other day. It's posted all over the City's website!!!
