Don't fly past your nest...meaning don't get too big for your britches or don't overstep your boundaries.

It means that his tail would be on fire but im no notice till it almost burn off!

(a mus mus is a mangoose and they are said not not have feelings in dem tail)

So..to sum it up.......is like he (the person the quote is referring too)... is sinking into a hole and is only when it too late that he realises.........no forward thinking!
