In Mavado's songs it simply means "Taking interest in" When he says "A batty ting dem a pree" he is insinuating that they faggots...taking interest in homosexual activities. Hope its clear.

I was told it meant to " look upon".

Example: Shotta dem a pree di dollar sign" from Vybz Kartels song...is supposed to mean they look upon or ..or look upon hoping to get.

I didn't read everyone elses answers..but when I asked last time I was in JA..thats the answer I got. I guess maybe it can have different contexts depending on the use of the word.
