Non-Jamaicans -
1. Do you think that you have enough understanding of the language that you could hold a conversation with a jamaican IN PATOIS?

2. Would you feel embarrassed intryingto speak it?

3. Has being on ETJ helped you to gain better understanding of the Patwah?

Jamaicans abroad- Since you have been away for so long...

1. Do you think that you HONESTLY can still speak the "Raw-chaw" patwah that is spoken back home?

2. If not, how long do you think it would take for you to get it back?
1. Yes, mi have nuff understanding of the language in being able to UNDERSTAND wha u a sey. But, not chat in Patois.
2. I feel very embarrassed trying to speak it.
3. No, only how to spell certain things in Pawtwah.

I have question. Why do some Jamaicans find it extremly funny when americans try to chat pawtwah. Man they CRACK UP non stop!

No I cannot hold a conversation in patois.
No I would not feel embarrassed because I would not try to speak it, I just like to be me.
Yes it has some.

My friend has a thick JA accent; however he does not speak in patois at least not to me. I do have to ask him to repeat himself several times (I feel kinda bad) but he understands; the great thing about our conversation is that the more we talk the more I understand him so it's coming along fine considering it has been a over a month now.
