The easiest way to learn the language is to listen to it. I would not fret about learning it by books or whatever. Go to Jamaica, listen to people speak, and you'll get it. I understand what my friends and family are saying because I have been around them so much and heard them speak to each other and now, to me. While I do not answer in Patois, I do not require they speak in English anymore with me.

But. Was he True Rasta? mi noh nuff white bwoy weh seh dem a Rasta an lacks dem ead an bunn spliff an reh reh but dem nah true ras. dem ongle act like dat. mi nevva noh a white fi be real Rastaman.

A true... dem do exist. I have met people of all colour whe fallow di rasta faith... not just bun weed an lock hair. I also have met man who brought up in rasta faith and smoke no ganja at all.

As to being a Rasta... my friend told me that it is not a religion, it is a way of life and it has no colour....
Ras David is Ras David.... no colour... pure, true and honorable.... love him!!

Well the friend I spoke of above grew up on a small island on the coast of Africa (sorry, I can't remember the name!). They speak Portuguese and they consider Rastafarianism to be their religion. They wear locks, but don't smoke ganja or drink alcohol and have very strict diets. His whole family is the same.
I'm sure that there are many ways to practice anything and your friend was not speaking for all Rastas.
