Believers and non-believers alike are often guilty of quoting words from the bible to proselytize, criticize or even to support a point of view about current affairs of a secular nature. But how often do you hear, read or use Bible passages that ring true to you directly, and cause you to looker deeper within your own actions, motives and inner consciousness?
In a word, what Bible passage speaks to YOU?

My motive for creating this thread was based on my own personal experience recently. It was one of those passages that you hear or read about all the time but never applied it to yourself. It was:
"... Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ...But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ...For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: ... For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was." (James 1:21 - 24)
I can't say what my filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness was or is, but I became consciously aware that there were things in my own life that needed serious conscious adjustment.

Lately Psalms have been speaking directly to me. I've never read them before so I just started with Psalm 1 on my holiday and kept reading from there.
Yeah.
The Psalms never rang true to me all these years until I did a study on the life of David. Only then, could I relate each passage of the Psalms to things that David faced as a natural man, a child of God and King of Israel. There after, it answered many questions for me. It was only then that I could readily appreciate them.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6
This scripture has been speaking to me for the past couple of months. I personally have tried to address a few things in life in my own and usual way of dealing, but discovered it's not the way of the Lord.
As of today, I still have no understanding and continue to go against what I thought would be the "right way". Everything seems so contradictory to what I see, even though it's what I know I want.
Through prayer I believe I am being led by the hands of God. He has a will and I have fully put my trust in him even though it makes no sense to me.
(hopefully that wasn't too confusing..lol. It's hard to explain something you don't understand yourself and without getting too personal)

Keep on trusting and praying, Spice.

And how do those two words speak to you, personally?
They don't, actually.
They're from the pilot episode of "The Waltons", called "The Homecoming". From the early 70's.
The children had to recite a bible verse to get a present from the missionary lady who was traveling about. This verse was given to a young child.
And you thought it moved me spiritually. Ha ha.
But for your benefit, I pointed out that only a human would weep. Jesus had a human moment, because the nature of divine awareness is like a pair of bi-focal glasses.
You must still live out your life as a human. Even while immersed in the infinite.

Jesus was demonstrating he was/is just like you.

I find it amusing that you believe that I thought for one moment that this or any other comment you have ever made with reference to christianity and religion in general, could move you spiritually. I am not that nieve to have even entertained that thought for a second.
I was merely asking the question based on the premise that for once you would objectively address the theme being discussed rather than going off on your usual tangent of attacking anything that appears to have any relevance to christianity or religion in general.
Oh well, business as usual.
