A Story about Existence of God

Once upon a time there was a king. The king including most of his subjects were uneducated and egoistic. One of the minister of the king was a little more educated than his colleagues and he ensured that no learned person got employed at the court of the king.

Whenever a learned scholar visited the court, the minister and his colleagues asked such difficult and impossible questions that the scholar admitted defeat amidst jeers and insults from the courtiers and the king. This way they mocked and insulted several scholars and learned people.

One day a very learned scholar who was not only educated but also a spiritual person, came to the court of this foolish king. After a brief introduction from both sides, the clever minister started as follows:

Minister: Sir

Spiritual Scholar: Yes.

Minister: Does God exist?

Spiritual Scholar: Yes.

Minister: Where does he live?

Spiritual Scholar: Everywhere.

Minister: Is he present in this court?

Spiritual Scholar: Yes.

Minister: Is he present right now in this court?

Spiritual Scholar: Yes, he is present right now in this court.

Minister: Then show him to us.

Hearing this the spiritual scholar was taken aback for a moment but very quickly he regained his position of confidence and responded to the minister as follows:

Spiritual Scholar: You want to see God in the open or while in meditation?

Minister: I want to see him in open, with my physical eyes.

Spiritual Scholar: You want to see him alone or in front of everyone?

Minister: In front of everyone.

Spiritual Scholar: You want to see him right here or somewhere else?

Minister: Right here.

Spiritual Scholar: Right now or later?

Minister: Right now.

Spiritual Scholar: In that case come closer to me.

The minister came close to the spiritual scholar. The spiritual scholar took out his heavy stick and with full force hit the minister on his back. The minister fell down and screamed “haaye haaye”. The courtiers were horrified at this. Some courtiers placed their hands on their swords, and became very upset. The king became very upset and addressed the Spiritual Scholar as follows:

King: What is this foolishness. Have you gone mad?

Spiritual Scholar: What madness are you talking about and what foolishness have I committed?

King: Don’t you know what you have done?

Spiritual Scholar: No My King, I don’t know what wrong I have done.

King (getting increasingly angry): You have hit my prime minister in full force with your stick and he is crying in pain, and you dare to ask what wrong you have done. Don’t you see how much pain he is feeling?

Spiritual Scholar: Where is the pain?

King: Don’t you see it, you moron, that my prime minister is feeling severe pain in his back, where you hit him with your stick?

Spiritual Scholar: I will not believe it like this. You should ask your minister to show me his pain in open, perceptibly, right now, and in front of everyone.

King: It seems like you are totally crazy and brain-dead. Do you think that the pain that he is feeling in his body is something tangible that that he should show it to your eyes, in open, and in front of everyone?

Spiritual Scholar: In that case O King, do you think God who is present in every atom of his creation is a tangible thing, made of 5 elements, that I should be able to show to you and to your minister’s eyes, in open, and in front of everyone?

Hearing this the king and all his courtiers lost all their anger and for the first time a foreign scholar was spared of mocking and insult in his court.
