As a christian are you often faced with the situation where people that you love and care for refuse to accept your christian way of life?

Some of these individuals though are sincere and genuine friends may often make jokes or criticize your faith, even to the point where they continue to try to "lead you back to the old ways".

Some will just hang around long enough to see you falter, just so that they can say "See..And he/she claim that they are a christian" .

Understanding that these individuals are detrimental to your spiritual growth, how do you deal with them?

Do you continue "hang out" with them or do you drop them as friends?

Meaning..?

Do you drop your "best friend" who has been there for you all this time?
Has been a shoulder to cry on, etc etc?

....Just playing devil's advocate here.

Matthew 10:37(Whole Chapter)
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

I think you can apply this concept to friends as well...if they are preventing you from groing in Christ.....then yes.....drop em........

to each his own...some people cn keep their old freinds and it doesn;t affect their groth...while some need to be seaprated from old firends to grow..

This is actually hard for me to answer since my friends have always known of my commitment to my faith. If anything, they look as if they feel guilty when I bring it up or they will hopefully talk about there connection to there own faith and church. No one has ever put me down...well, I take that back, my ex and his father use to make jokes and I would ignore. But besides that....no issues

Being a Christian doesn't mean isolating yourself from others who may not share your faith, or principles. It does mean stopping behaviour that contradicts your Christian principles. It may mean as a result, that you don't spend (as much) time with certain people as you did before, but it doesn't mean that you must insulate yourself from the rest of the world. God also calls us to minister to others. We can't effectively minister to others if we appear to be aloof and separatist. We need to interact with others, but the nature of our interaction has to be consistent with what God wants.

Certainly, there are situations where for our own safety and well-being, we just need to avoid the company of some. We need God's guidance to help us recognize when such situations arise, and help us to make the right decisions.

I dont think the inference was to "isolate' yourself from the world, for we can be AMONG them but not be OF them. and certainly we must be there to minister unot those in need of the good word.

But I was referring to those close friends who, because of their own empitness inside, becuase of thier refusal to let go of the old ways, will hang around just so that they can point a finger at anything that you say or do ANYTHING that hints on anything less than "holy".

Those friends who often bring up the old crap that you did in your past and then claim "Him/She no change. She/Him jus a fool people!".
Those are the ones of whom I speak.

it's not the point of isolating form everbody, but some people....you wont be doing it for a long period of time...and yes we need guidance to know who to avoid(separate)
