Signed and sealed.

Re: the origin of rastafari?
Rastafari is a new name for a old energy(spirit) that has permeated Afrikans and their life through out their existence in one form or the other .
But in regards to its peculiar incarnation recognize as Rastafari it is grounded and founded in Jamaica .

Athough I appreciate your off humur on MOST occasions, this is just NOt funny!!! at all!!!....i would really like to comment on the pic but am trying to be good today.
But to answer the quest, Rastafari faith is born and bred from jamaica...its doctrine (use term loosely) is derived from eithiopia in the belief that Empeor Sallasie was God or reincarnation (or coming) of Christ.

Yes I was reading about that I think yesterday.....after listening to mutabaruka....(felt the need to, don't know why, sometimes i go back in time to when i was growing up and I used to listen to him. not religiously...just to hear how funny he talks)...and I learned that it started in 1930's, in JA...I never knew that.

Yes it did.
Most people attribute its origin to Africa because Emporer Selassie was/is revered as Jesus incarnate by the followers of the religion.
What most dont seem to know is that Selassie himself never thought of himself as divine except that he is in truth and fact a direct descendant of King David of Israel. Beyond that, he has never claimed divinity unto himself.
Still, I respect and honor the Rastafarian culture (not the religion) and can't help but feel that it embodies most of what we as Jamaicans represent to the rest of the world.

Re: the origin of rastafari?
I was listening to Mutabaruka on Religion Talk, on you tube, and him an Ian Boyne was going at it, as usual.
Muta says that rasta don't see Rastafarianism as a religion, but more of a culture, a way of life. it's the people outside of Rastafarianism, who claim to say that it is a religion..
Not sure about that.

He is correct.
And that's why I said what I said:

There are many who ignorantly believe that once you grow the locks, learn the words of a few Bob Marley songs and smoke weed until they are comatose, that makes them a rasta.
The religious aspect of rastafarianism is simply one small part of the whole rasta culture. Rastafarianism is a way of life.
