Bush Declines BET Interview
By Michele Greppi
President Bush has declined BET's invitation to sit for a solo interview in a prime-time edition of "BET Nightly News," the network said late Tuesday in an announcement that made clear the network is stung by the White House's message that the president does not have time to speak directly to its audience before the Nov. 2 election.
Sen. John Kerry, who was issued a simultaneous invitation Sept. 14, was interviewed Oct. 7 on BET.
BET said founder and CEO Robert Johnson sent an open letter to top African Americans in the Bush Administration asking them to urge the President to reconsider. In the letter, Mr. Johnson said: "There is little doubt that African American voters have the power to decide the outcome of this election. Our invitations to President Bush and Senator Kerry were each candidate's chance to show African Americans that their issues, opinions and their votes really matter. To decline this opportunity does not send a very positive signal to African Americans with just 14 days left before the election."
Mr. Johnson sent the letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of Education Rod Paige and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson, as well as former Oklahoma Republican Congressman J. C. Watts, who is leading a grass-roots group of African American Republicans supporting the Bush re-election effort.
I know Black people aren't really surprised at this at all. I don't know why we continue to try to reach out to people that don't want to be bothered with us, including the president, its sad because he is suppose to represent all the people but we know what people he represents and he doesn't even try to hide it.
This doesn't surprise me one bit. What does surprise me is the fact that he actually responded at all. His interests lie with a dark product (oil), not a dark people........

True indeed JaGobi and the fact that less than 5% of Black people voted for him, just further means he is not going to put our needs as a priority, so what do we do I hear a Revolution, let me stop before I'm banned (just playing).

You are so right, JaGoBi. When we first invaded Iraq, we immediately guarded the oil, NOT the civilians.

There is this new Campaign organization called Black Republicans for Bush, not saying that Black people should not be represented everywhere in the political arena but really, why represent someone that you know does not care about your needs.
And, you are so right about his not even trying to hide it. Blatant DISRESPECT is what it is.

It's called the..... "SLAVES MENTALITY"
some think because he has CONDELEZA{however yu spell her name}, COLIN POWELL that he must like blacks. They don't see that these are his "token black folks" .
Exactly and he is forever saying that I have Black people in the most powerful positions under me. Slave mentality is well and alive, why like someone that hates everything you stand for, he has killed so many Black men in Texas under capital punishment its sick.
They are probably in that top 1%. Not all of them are, though, and that's even sadder.

But the fact that they are still Black I mean to me in America race supercedes everything else, you can money be educated but if you Black, you Black. But I guess when you are that rich you no longer identify with the rest of the Black population.
Yup. There's another name for them too but I WILL get in trouble if I say it.
Hint: You dip them in milk.
