My Caribbean Sun
He reminds me of hot days in the Caribbean sun
cool waters, coconut trees
the sweet sounds of tropical birds
flowing gracefully in tune with the breeze
I can taste him, like sweet sour sop
ripe mangoes, pawpaw and pineapple
drooling to suck his lips, I won't stop
until they melt in my mouth like guinep and star apple
His skin..a product of the Theobroma cacao tree
Like food of the Gods, his cocoa skin entices me
to taste his sweet chocolate, his sun kiss shade
as we lay in a hammock, and watch the Caribbean sun fade
his eyes light up like stars, in the black sky at night
brightening my life...his glowing eyes, like stars...priceless lights
Even if he was poor, in a concrete or wooden house..barred up door
sleeping on a sponge mattress, on the floor
pinching the kerosene oil in his lamp during the blackouts
I would share every struggle with him...never to walk out
Dancing to Beres Hammond...as our bodies sway
to the tune....''remember those days when we use to rock away''
Him picking red hibiscus flowers, placing it my curly hair
me teasing him with my sexy walk, knowing he will stare
I want to live free.....be me....with him....us...forever
in love...floating like two swimmers in turquoise waters
Living life to the fullest, it's best...together we will run
into a future as bright as my Caribbean sun....
