Simple pleasures
The warmth of my child,
Wrapped securely in my arms
The hot kiss of the sun
On my face in the summer
The jewel like twinkle
Of the lake through the trees
The serenity of birdsong
On a beautiful spring morning
The refreshing feel
Of a misty ocean breeze
The bountiful joy
Of children laughing
The majestic wonder
Of a star filled sky
The montage of color
In a fall landscape
The comforting embrace
Of a true friend
The invigorating scent
Of fresh coffee in the morning
The absolute knowledge
That there are people
Who are there for me
And love me, unconditionally
And the reciprocal knowledge
That I will always be there for them
And love them, in return
Just a simple list
Of some of my simple pleasures
To bring a smile to your face
And tenderness to your heart
On this, Valentine’s Day
And every other day
Throughout the year
