Give me a reason to love



I'm wanting it,

deeply desiring it

but I continue to run and hide from it

Always working,

never having time,

no

never making time for a relationship

avoiding the questions towards committment

over turning obligation

thats when I have my personal things I need to do

a fast talker I am

trying to get you to be my friend

well next to me in my bed

never thinking who might hurt in the long run

cause I'm protecting my feelings

so I'm looking out for number 1

I keep telling myself

they really don't want to know me

cause without thinking

I just start honestly spittin

I know when you know the truth,

like hell

if you would ever hold me

I'm not going to lie and say I'm not selfish

I guess I'm enjoying my freedom without bull****,

I guess?

Don't get me wrong

there were times I left a crack in these emotional walls

thinking someone will break them down

and place me in loving arms

but soon as I hear the walls crumble

I'm back to building new ones

the black heart is back to rumbling

I know,

I need to humble myself

give love a chance

cause all the work I do

all the accomplishments I've done

will not give me those lost loves back.

I ask you

give me a reason to love

cause if there is none

I will continue to build

and my heart will be 100 miles on the run

I don't need disappointment

I can deal with not loving

but love has got a hold of me

through the pen

on the paper

spoken from tongues

only in poetry!



Now give me a reason?
