Looking Glass…



As I look at the reflection of me

I see the changes that life experience has wrought

Images swirl through my mind of past deeds

Accomplishments and failures

Triumphs and sacrifices

Trials and tribulations



It seems to me that the majority of the world’s population

Is constantly searching, seeking that inner peace

That knowledge of self

That tranquil meditative pool of consciousness



I look back and see

The blissful happiness of early childhood

The tremulous fear and uncertainty of early adolescence

The anger and hate of my teens

The searching hurt of my early twenties

The growing up and becoming responsible of my mid twenties

And now the coming of wisdom and acceptance as I approach 30



Ten years ago, I had no clue as to who or what even that I was

I used to look in the mirror and see…

Nothing…

Pain, hurt, anger, obsession, fear, lonliness



Now as I gaze at my own reflection

I see

Hope, love, knowledge, inspiration, honesty, loyalty, forgiveness



Through the wisdom of age I have learned to forgive

I have forgiven those that have hurt me

I have forgiven myself for the hurts that I have caused

I have opened my heart to love

I have opened my heart to friendship

I have learned to trust

I have learned to have faith

I have learned to give



I have come to see my true self worth

Beauty

Strength

Compassion

Intelligence

Inspiration

Love



The gift of love is the greatest gift of all

Love of self

Love of family

Love of friends

Love of humanity

Love of a man



We all have our tumbles back to the bottom of the hill

But some of us, the smart ones, keep climbing.



I will keep climbing and

I will keep changing and growing

And I will achieve greatness

I have achieved greatness

For I have learned that to achieve greatness

You simply must believe in yourself



I believe in me

I believe in my power to control my thoughts and actions

I believe in my ability to persevere

I believe in my strength



I believe in ME…



Looking in the looking glass I see a Woman

A simple Woman, with much to give.

Just wait, acceptance of one's self gets even easier as you get a little older. Or else, you just say what the hell and give up. I forget which one it is (smile!)
