New from CA- questions!!!

Hi everyone! I am new to this site. I live in CA. I am currently enrolled in an international business class at our local community college. I was hoping someone could PLEASE help me with some answers about Jamaicans and coffee I have to do for my term paper, I cannot find anything online....

1. coffee drinking consumption habits?
2. levels of consumption?
3. when they drink coffee?
4. what other drinks do Jamaicans drink regularly?
5. existing coffee competition? If I was to open a shop selling coffee, who would my competition be?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE and VERY much thank you to anyone who will answer my questions....

Re: New from CA- questions!!!

I am not in the coffee business so I can't really answer your questions. I do know that coffee drinking is not that popular in Jamaica. Most of the coffee grown in Jamaica is exported. Your best bet is probably to contact people who are in the coffee business directly. They should at least be able to point you in the right direction.

I think the following links may be helpful:

Jamaican Coffee - a beverage of distinction
Coffee Industries Limited ® The Coffee Mill of Jamaica ® 100% Jamaican Coffee

Re: New from CA- questions!!!

They regularly drink tea in the morning, sometimes before lunch. They will drink coffee if I offer them a cup, but it is not their cup of tea. LOL.

There is a couple of coffe shops in Negril where I winter. They cater to the tourists, so depending on where you would set up your coffee shop, you may have competition.

Re: New from CA- questions!!!

Thank you both for your help. It is not that important to contact a person in the coffee business. I am just supposed to find general information and what better way to get it then from people who live there or are there regularly. Thank you very much! have a great day!

Re: New from CA- questions!!!

I love JA Coffee -- Blue Mountain. Funny -- when I'm in JA, when I order coffee, I get mostly "instant" -- but even that is delicious!
