michaelinlondon nah do too bad.
Request for Holiday Info on Accommodation etc.

Hi,
Coming to Jamaica in August for a 4-5 week holiday. Stayed in Negril for a month in 2007. Couldn't get back in 2008 as the plane fares were so high, so went to Barbados and was very disappointed. Not sure which part of Jamaica this time, so looking for some advice. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children, 15, 13 & 9 and we prefer the company of locals rather than others holiday makers. The kids like to sunbath and swim in the sea and shop in the local stores and markets and visit some of the tourist attractions, Kool Runnings Water Park was a great hit with them last time.

1 Self catering villa preferably with pool and decent sized grounds.
2 Close to beach and not too remote.
3 Advice on competitive car hire for 4-5 weeks.
4 Is it possible to use a mobile broadband dongle with one of the local telephone networks such as Digicel.
5 Are there any good markets to visit and on what days?
6 Is there a simple way of topping up a Digicel mobile online?
7 Who are the best property finders on the island? See my webpage for property Looking for Jamaican Holiday Home

Counting the months and days when I can board the plane for Jamaica.
Ya Mon
Michael

Welcome to ETJ Michael

THere are many choices of stay with children, but the one that sticks out most is FDR pebbles. I think it's near Ocho Rios. Here is a link with info: Franklyn D. Resort and FDR Pebbles - family all inclusive resorts in Jamaica

Personally, If you are out looking for a fun and adventurous time, I recommend Ochi (Ocho Rios). There you can swim with the dolphins, go to Dunns River Falls, Horseback Riding, etc....

THere is a really nice market at Dunns River Falls, but there is also large ones all over, including right in Ochi. I don't believe they are open on Sundays though.

As for cellular service, it's been too long for me to remember what works and doesn't and how it does??

Hope that helps and enjoy your visit!

Re: Request for Holiday Info on Accommodation etc.

If you are looking for a non constructed holiday I dont think you can still beat the area around Negril. Ochi is far more commercialised. I was in our local market in Negril today and there seems to be plenty of it on theface of it. accomodation on offer of all types
