Questions?

How long can I come to Jamaica without a visa? Is it hard to get a Visa? Can my son go to school there or do we need to become a resident first?

Re: Questions?

I think the length of time permitted would be up the immigration officer upon your arrival in JA .If you have other documents suggesting you will be remaining in the island for a specific period of time because of a specific purpose then this will be taken into consideration. If you are buying a ticket and taking a trip then I would suggest a visit to the Immigration department upon your arrival to have your queries looked into.

That's the way it works for other countries I am assuming it's the same way in JA. Of course if I am incorrect someone more knowledgeable about JA’s immigration laws will give a correction.

Re: Questions?

Without a visa it is 90 days, this is quite standard all over, Carib, US, Europe, this counts for tourist visa's, u are prohibited to work if you are staying with such visa...

I don't think ur kid can go to school legally though without being a resident, it is most likely that a school will take the kid in if u are paying for it however I wonder if the time spend in school will be recognized upon return to the country of origin, or that it would hold the kid back... That's all that I cudn't find on the net. Goodluck

Re: Questions?

Chrissy, its 6 months for sure, not 90 days. But as I said that doesn't mean they'll stamp your passport for that long.

Re: Questions?

I don't know why they would/should even care. Assuming you have health insurance and money to support yourself for 6 months-80 years---you could only benefit the country.

It would be easier if they just kicked you out once you ran out of money.
