Another newbie
Seems like you have a very interesting family here
Hello to all, I am an experienced (old) female (now usa expat) married to a Jamaican national (experienced, too). We live in Jamaica...I must have been the green card seeker!

Re: Another newbie
Thanks all....the word is "live" not vacation, so it is the same as all other places, work, struggle, and instead of beach vacations, vacations are not to visit the kids in the US and go shopping for all the things we can't get here!
I find it interesting to see struggles of others and will share more later, just know it is biased with my experiences and not a rule of thumb for anyone!
I have had the opportunites to travel both on my own with work, and I do not regret my decision to stuggle here.
Looking forward to learn more. Never to old to learn!

Re: Another newbie
My finding Jamaica was a strange story. I knew my husband from years of traveling to Mexico. When I moved there (I always told my kids when they grew up I was living the states), we started seeing each other. He was there on a work contract. After several border crossings and a couple of years, I was having visa problems. He then told me maybe we should get married since he was getting grey! Then I could go to Jamaica and wait for him to come home. Kinda would have thought love would have entered it I had never been to Jamaica, and it only took me waking up in Negril to know this would be home.
I had checked out the Jamaica web sites in Mexico before leaving for the new adventure and found them very helpful. So, after living here for 8 years, decided maybe I should help others with what little I know.
This site seems to be more my speed. I like the diversity of the people here.

No, I haven't lived in Negril for about 4 years. I am on the North Coast. When you work in Jamaica, it is work and home, work and home, and you do not really get to socialize a lot. You will find that Jamaicans will most probably fly across the ocean more than they go across the island.
