We went to Jamaica for vacation. I fell in love. My husband and I are thinking of moving there. I want to help Jamaica and its people. I feel a pull on my soul so strong that I can hardly think of anything else. I cried for days after leaving.My soul aches! People tell me "it will get old" It old in chicago! I figure we have to live somewhere, why not live where the air smells sweet and beauty surrounds one? Some say "jamaica has problems" I say "look at the US. It has problems! I love Jamaica and want info on Businesses to start. anyone live there?

that's a wonderful thing o want to live in another country. When people told you that Jamaica has problem that is true, but then again you could be the on e that is gong to help that contry. Don't give up your dream.

I refuse to give up. I have always wanted to make a difference. In the states no matter what I do it truely won't make the difference. In Jamaica I feel like I can actually make a difference. I think i was Jamaican in a former life. I can't explain it but I feel like I belong and need to be there. Tonight at dinner we were talking about moving there and I am the one that really wants it. But he does too. I was almost in tears because I need to be there. I told my husband who is years older that I did not want to wait for his demise that I want to enjoy it with him. Either way I will end up in Jamaica doing good. Helping.
I want to live on the western end. Prefferbly in negril on the 7 mile beach. I would love to live on the water but it probebly is too much $$$$$. You understand how I feel about Jamaica, don't you? I am irish American. I love everyone. I have two teenagers who have dated and befriended (as I did) every ethenticity (that I found attracive, OK who asked me out!). I feel God made us all. One love
Negril is a lot of people's favorite. Although you might find that there isn't as much needed there as in other parts of Jamaica. I think you could make a bigger difference elsewhere. You should look at http://www.volunteerabroad.com/Jamaica.cfm as a start. The organizations on that site might either have what you want OR be able to give you start on finding what you want if you REALLY want to help out. Try one of their programs to start off, you have to fund yourself for these short term programs but it could lead to something else. However you won't find anything in Negril.
I think its wonderful you want to live there. I was thinking the same thing. I also think its good you want to help out and contribute. I'm glad somebody cares & thanks JamCan for that website, I didn't know they had one.

I can understand how u and your husband feel about Jamaica. I call the island my paradise on earth. I love it their also and yes u can feel the soul of the island. Whenever i am there i come back to the states feeling like a new person. If i could i could see myself living there. I love it!!!
It never get old they are lying! Nah seriously I love Jamaica-born and left real you but thats where my heart is. I would love to move back but I need to either find a job or start my own business. Darn it must have been real hard going back to Chi town its cold there but just think of all the fun you had and start planning the next trip that always helps my nostalgia
