Moving in...

Hello everyone

I'm moving to Jamaica in December, and I'll be working as an IT consultant. I'm from Portugal, and I think I only have permition to stay there 1 month before I have to apply to a visa. Does any one know if getting a visa is hard, even if you are working?

Are there any other things I should know before moving in?

Bye,

LI

Re: Moving in...

Congrats Rhino! You've accomplished what a lot of people wish they could....get a job in Jamaica! I don't know the answer to your question but hopefully someone will come up with it for you.

Re: Moving in...

When I called the Jamaican Embassy in Kingston they told me that since my husband is a Jamaican citizen that I would get dual citizenship through him, meaning I would be part citizen of Jamaica and America and would not be in danger of loosing my citizenship in America.

She then went on to explain that I would have to come to Kingston and bring my marriage certificate, have a police check done with finger prints from America and provide them with a place of residency in Jamaica. Then I was told that they would exempt me from working.

It's kind of the same procedures when someone is applying to come to America from Jamaica

Re: Moving in...

I have fell in love with my King, a true Rasta, in Jamaica. We have been great friends for 5 years now. He has asked me to move to Jamaica to be with him. However, I am fearful because I am a very independent and succussfull and still want to be involved in the community. Don't know what to do?
