Question Licensing Requirements for Working at a Resort Spa

I am moving to Jamaica in February and am wondering who is responsible for establishing licensing requirements for spa workers there. In the US, each state has different licensing requirements, so I need to find out if my credentials will allow me to work in a resort spa in Jamaica. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Licensing Requirements for Working at a Resort Spa

I would contact the resorts specifically to find out. Each one may have different requirements and some might be the same as the states because they are American companies.

Also you might be able to find some contact info here: http://www.investjamaica.com/

Ummmm, other than that I would stick to the resorts for your info. Sandals, Beaches, Riu, etc.

Hi,

I dont think there is a board set up in Jamaica for this. I know that you would have to be a trained cosmotologist. You just normally provide proof of this by showing your certificate from whatever school you attened. If you received additional training in a specialized area or have references you just need to provide proof of this and as JamCan suggested you can call the resorts to see what are there specific requirements.
