Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

I usually fly Air Canada, but HATE flying! We are trying Air Jamaica this year from Miami as well we'll be in FLA before we go to JA! I have flown British Airways (love them) Scandinavian (hate them), some charters (never again!), AA, Us Airways, Continental, Delta. When I used to go to JA once a month 6 years ago before we were married i flew anything that would take me down there!!!

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

Welcome to the club, D. That's the whole reason I've tried pretty much every airline and had issues with most.......monthly visits.

I prefer British Airways hands down, but you get what you pay for--and conversely you pay for what you get. I'll usually end up flying whatever I can get a decent rate on... and that just means NOT flying out of Pearson, period. I can drive to Detroit, and fly United for $300 less than flying Air Jamaica out of T.O. As far as the service, well, I figure if the rates okay then I won't complain too much.

I am with you Urban I look for what I can afford..and then I am a fairly easy going traveler...you have to expect some **** to go down while you are traveling than you won't be so upset over it....

Yeah... for years I flew in and out of that airport, not realizing that it is the 2nd highest landing tax in the world, next to Tokyo!!!! I'm so mad that I didn't figure it out sooner. Not worth it at all. Taking a taxi to detroit or to buffalo is cheaper in the long run.

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

Let me tell you, if you travel enough, some **** is fine. But...........without going into great details, lets just say I have experienced problems on every single flight from wrong seat(s), to they bumped me, to overflowing toilets, to the door not opening, to baggage carts running into planes and ripping holes, to delayed and/or cancelled flights, no a/c, ..........the list goes on and on. Some problems would be okay. Every single trip..come on now. And, some airlines are MUCH better at making things right then others. Before you say how well you would handle these things, you have to experience them. And, the first time is fine. The second, ok. The third, you're angry a little quicker. The fourth you are steaming immediately.....................

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

Well I have experiencd many of those same things while traveling Jomo....some people get really upset and start freaking out over it..I just don't..cause what are you gonna do about it....never had a hole in the plane .....but all those other things to me are just expected, traveling glitches....in fact it alway amussing to me to watch the tpe A's freaking out over this stuff....cause it doesn't help..and the Airlines are much more willing to "make things right" for someone who isn't upset.

Ah...you're right... it only happens to you. Air travel is smooth as silk for the rest of us who only do it a few times a year.

I prefer Delta; but have had issues with them in the last year. Had a problem with Northwest & American too. I may have to row to JA eventually.

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

That's not what I said, Urban. I never said I was the only one. What I was saying was if I flew once per year and things we wrong, I might say...oh well, things happen. But, when it happens over and over again, you start questioning the airlines: their people, their policies, their equipment, etc. And, the more it happens the angrier you get each time something new happens.
