You know you are flying Air Jamaica when:

You get to the airport before the ticket counter staff...

Everybody is checking in suitcases the size of a refrigerator....

The person beside you taps you on your shoulder and says .." beg yu check een dis ya piece ah luggage fah mi nuh... DO!"

Everybody makes a bolt for the gate when the announcer on the p.a.systems says that ".. this is NOT a boarding annoncement."

You can't get on board because somebody in front of you is trying to get a Toyota engine block into the overhead compartment..

At least one passenger is accompanied by an armed Federal Agent....

Travellers on the plane call the flight attendant "Air Hostess"...

You can only get the Observer to read...

Everybody is trying to figure out what "Port of Embarkation" means...

Somebody hands a flight attendant a paper bag and asks her to "heat up dis ya patty fi mi nuh baby"

When the plane starts to decend, a woman in the seat behind you says to her friend... "Come Darris, time fi go tile-it an' tidy!"

The overhead compartment smells like fish and rum.... then it starts to drip on you...

Most of the passengers clap and clap when de pile-at lan de plane genkle..

Every body who have a big screen TV, a boom-box and a microwave go straight to the "Nothing to Declare" line

Red face Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

I am planning a trip to Jamaica in December of this year from the 21st until January 8th or 9th and I was wondering if anyone could give me tips and tricks on finding a cheap flight. I am coming from Phoenix, AZ. I checked out the website www.farecompare.com and so far I found a flight for $515.00.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

I always check out expedia and travelocity and all those discount flights and then go directly to the airline sites to see if they can beat them. Spirit is a good one for cheap deals. Get on their e-mail list. Also Travelzoo.com.

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

i have to admit you probably will get a biased opinion from me.

being that i have been working in the airline industry for going on 10 years i have flown many many many different airlines (Air Canada, American Airlines, United Airlines, Air Jamaica, Lufthansa, Scandanavian Airlines, etc...)

i have flown only short flights though with AirJ...very pleasant. excellent service, friendly staff...all in all a fantastic experience.

as i said before though i am biased...i work for Air Canada and have always had good experiences....ontime performance is exemplary, food is good, safety #1 priority....

i LOVE to fly!!!

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

Air Jamaica is one of the best airlines in the world. I flew there when going to visit my grandad in duncans several times from London Heathrow.

They have not had one single crash since they started service over 30 years ago.

Fly air jamaica!

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

I wish Leisure Air still flew to Jamdown. Air Jamaica is ok, a few of the planes looking dishevelled inside, they r always late and the staff have face long like a donkey a$$ and attitude to match but the foods awrite and I dont have any complaints about the flight.

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

Oh my....I am not a fan of Air Jamaica....I personally try to fly delta since I have never had an issue with them! Air Jamaica cancelled a flight on me last year and I was connecting in Ft. Lauderdale. When I went to get on the next flight..they told me I was not in there comp. and they had no knowledge of my purchase or existence. Thank goodness I had my receipt with me.

Re: Air Jamaica versus other airlines

I can't get the direct flight on Air Jamaica either.

I prefer Delta; but have had issues with them in the last year. Had a problem with Northwest & American too. I may have to row to JA eventually.
