Question Married to a Jamaican Wife- Form R1 needed!

I have been married to a Jamaican wife for several years. She was born in Jamaica and lived in Canada prior to marrying me and moving to USA. We are both interested in possibly moving back to Jamaica in the future. I am only a US Citizen. She is a triple (Jamaican, Canadian, US) citizen. I have been told that I may qualify to apply for citizenship in Jamaica by being married to a Jamaican wife. Is this true or will I have to live as a Permanent Resident for several years first? Also, I was told to get a "form R1" but neither the embassy or the NYC Consulate seems to have one. Anybody know where I can get it?

Hi,

You can check this website it provides links to the different governmental agencies http://www.mfaft.gov.jm/Leaders/ministry_of_labour.htm or you can check JAMPRO their website is http://www.investjamaica.com/links/

They might be be able to assist you. in getting in touch with the appropriate ministry thus getting info on where you can get the form or you can try the consulate in Miami to see if they have it and can fax it to you. Try the different consulatates.

All the best

Have you been to jamaica? I don't believe you'll ever end up in jamaica. she probably just told you that so that you wouldn't suspect she married you only to get into this country. that woman didn't go through all the trouble of coming here only to go back. they kill themselves to come here eventhough that is their home. if it was a wonderful place to live they never would have left.

the gov't makes it hard for U.S. citizens to be with people from jamaica for a reason. the reason is that they KNOW that 99.9% of the marriages they make with americans are for U.S. citizenship or MONEY. that is why they won't help you break your neck.

if you are smart you will keep your money separate, not have any children, put an ad in the paper announcing that you will be responsible for your debts and signatures only and don't co-sign any debt with her, and watch what you eat.

Be careful and don't end up like Lauryn Hill.
http://acc6.its.brooklyn.cuny.edu/~scintech/mercury/MercuryUsageNew.htm
In the United States, certain Afro-Caribbean and Latin American traditions, including
Santeria, Palo, voodoo, and Espiritismo, incorporate the use of elemental mercury. Uses include sprinkling mercury on the floor of a home or car, burning it in a
candle, and mixing it with perfume. Metallic mercury is available at almost all of the 15 botanicas visited in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, but botanica personnel often deny having mercury for sale when approached by outsiders to these religions.
People with chronic mercury poisoning often also have wide mood swings, becoming irritable, frightened, depressed, or excited very quickly for no apparent reason. Such people may become extremely upset at any criticism, lose all self-confidence, and become apathetic. Hallucinations, memory loss, and inability to concentrate can occur.

Slap me or bash me wisewoman, but you seem "bitter" (<said in the kindest way possible) about what happened to you. doesn't mean it's all JA men or that that's what happening.

just saying, no offense

I'm getting tired of WW posting all this negativity! We get it, you can stop repeating yourself now!!! You've put it in every possible thread you could so you can stop now.

Besides this thread is over a year old, the guy is long gone.

IF YOU ARE INVOLVED WITH ONE YOU COULD BE IN THE HONEYMOON PHASE. TIME WILL TELL IF HE IS ANY DIFFERENT. WHEN I WAS IN THE HONEYMOON PHASE EVERYONE I TOLD ABOUT MY MARRIAGE SAID HE'S A CON ARTIST AND HE IS EVIL BUT, I THOUGHT MINE WAS THE EXCEPTION. I LOST MANY FRIENDS DEFENDING HIM. HE WAS A GREAT CON ARTIST. IT ALMOST KILLED ME WHEN I KNEW THEY WERE RIGHT.

Re: Married to a Jamaican Wife- Form R1 needed!

WW stop the foolishness. Enough is enough. Go to a therapist. If you have so many problems with Jamaicans then stop coming to this site. Not all Jamaican men are the same. Wicked people are everywhere. Is it only JA men who are con artist? Gigolos come in every color and nationality. People come to this country from all the over the world and do go back to their own country. Lots of Jamaicans move back to the island. You need a serious reality check.

what the hell? What does Lauryn Hill have to do with the topic of the thread? I'm really sorry for the obvious pain you have gone thru. I really hope that you dont allow it to consume and destroy you.
