i would suggest thats the best idea. it is far easier to get a place to stay in resorts and then you have your pick of places to visit - and also swap ideas and travel with other visitors. many people go for extended periods over the winter so you'll likely meet many people who want to go the same places as you. i can certainly help you out in any way if you do decide to go. i'll be in Negril and so is JaMiss another lady on this site.

ive looked into things like that too. it sounds great you should go for it. i heard mandeville is great and a little bit cooler which in the summer is relief.

its NOT impossible. i do it with very limited money. with organisations you will have the security of knowing your looked after but it costs you a lot of money to join them and you will have to make the effort and approach them and maybe go through some sort of selection process.

if you serious about going there ARE people on here who will actively help you, including myself. so far we have given you general advice but you have to do a lot of work and research yourself too. lots of people ask advice on here about working/living in Ja. so until you commit to being serious about it, we'll not run round hooking you up with places to stay yet. you need to make a decision - then im certainly here for you.

no i dont know anything much about computers lol i learn and pick things up pretty quickly tho

well i'll be in negril from december till may/june. if you were there the same time id look after you to a certain extent - like help you get somewhere to stay (i know a canadian guy staying for a few months who would prob let you share his place), show u around, introduce you to some people (visitors and Jamaicans) show you places to eat, shop - but i wont babysit lol. ill show you the way but you got to be tough over there to be honest cos people will take advantage of you if they can. thats why its best to have a support network while your there.

i just need to know and be abel to trust that im not gonna be completely lost
i am by no means looking for some one to baby sit me ,im really down with the interdependent thing but it would be nice to have someone there i can trust if i have to
