Moving to Jamiaca with Dogs - Jamaica Talk

Hi

Was wondering if anyone has moved to Jamaica with dogs. My partner and I are looking to relocate there and want to bring out two shitzus with us.

Any advice from anyone that has done it before or try to do it would be appreciated.

Only if you are coming from the UK are you able to take dogs into Jamaica. Jamaica has no rabies therefore they do not allow dogs from any other country as UK is the same. I have researched this in full as I have a dog and there is not option unless someone sneaks the dog into Jamaica from a boat.
Not sure if you are from Uk or not but its a no if from US or Canada or any other country, you can find the link on the Jamaica agriculture website

Thanks for the reply. We are coming from Australia so I guess it is going to be difficult to get them there. Breaks my heart thinking about leaving them.......

Jamaica has nuff dogs already....they are everywhere.....sure you could find one that needs a home

When you land just throw a pound of meat out in the street. Select any number out of the 3000 dogs in the street.

Hey im from ireland gr8 country but not uk ither tyG but i have a one up on any ozz'ies that is most of the world gets confused about ireland and takes it that were in the uk haahaanana. so even if jamaicas officials are smart and realise this i can just get a boat or plane or unfortuanly even a bus to uk and then fly 2 jamacia with me lil bud

If it was only that easy. Your required a permit form the Vet Division of the Min. of Ag prior to importation and only dogs born and bred in the United Kingdong may be imported into Jamaica. And you must have certification from the relevant authority in the UK stating such.

I guess you could pay someone in the UK to forge your documents but JA is rabies free and wants to stay that way. With the amount of dogs this island has...we can't afford an outbreak of rabies.
