im sick of New York and want to move to Jamaica and start a buisness or maybe first start working in a bar or something like that. Im a girl from sweden and been in NYC for almost a year. Now i foundout what i really want and i wonder if someone have some tips for me? Is it hard to get a working visa? I need every tips and idea i can get about everything consider moving there! Thank you

Seems a lot of peeps wanna move to JA this week...LOL This is the second thread in two days....anyway...have you ever been there...its not that easy to just move there if you don't have money.....working is possible but challenging and pay is very low...usually not enough to live on. Can you afford to start a business right away and live off that...cause then its all good

I must advise you that working or starting up a business in Jamaica is not easy. Working at a typical Jamaican bar will not be glamorous (unless probably you are working in a bar at a resort).

Make sure you fully understand what you may be getting yourself into.

Nearly Impossible to get a bartending Job at a resort in Jamaica if you are foriegn.....they give those jobs to JA and the pay is crappy anyway...lol Sorry to sound so gloomy but I have looked into this a lot as I would love to move there myself....but if you don't have an income to support you...its not easy....well...this sounds like a question for Jamaica Miss

OH that part. Yes she still has to leave every 6 months and she owns more than one property even!!

So if you dont have money then....well they might not even let you stay 6 months....I dunno.....

Depends. Canadians can stay up to 6 months just visiting....I don't know about Americans, never inquired. But if I wanted to work there I'd have to obtain a permit.

Yes its all the same here I believe........but its hard to get a work permit..there is some thing about they have to give the jobs to Jamaicans first...if they cant get one for it then they can hire Farrin!

And that's the same rule for ANY country! Why wouldn't they hire their own first.....

Hi thanks for your answers! Im not american im swedish and we can just be there 90 days to visit, i wonder if i can apply for a working visa if i start a business, someone know enything about that?
