Need some advice

........I am currently a member and have my resume posted on an overseas job bank site which offers positions in different countries. I received an email the other day of a position in Montego Bay for a new hotel resort for a sales/p.r. position, so I emailed my resume. I received a call the next day with the manager wanting to set up an interview. My interview was today 8/31 but I punked out and changed it to next Tues. as my boyfriend is on my case about this. The pay is $600 US a mth + a percentage on each sale (which in my mind would be okay cash). I was worried about transportation but the manager said there's a bus that meets in town and carries hotel staff to & from work. Downtown for me is a 5 min walk, can see it from my window. The only thing is he said the owners of the company would submit a work permit for me which I would have to commit to for 1 yr......if I left before that time I would owe money back to the company for the fees they spent getting me the permit, etc......
My boyfriend is against it. He said I'm "out of my element", and he doesn't want me working down here....not to mention his paperwork for the states will be ready in the beginning of Jan 2008. I love living here and just think that this is an awesome opportunity. Sure the pay stinks but I have a pretty decent bank account and my bills are minimal.
Any suggestions or advice on what you guys would do if you were here and this opportunity arose for you?
