This may be a dumb questions, but I'm going to ask it anyway!

Does Jamaica have a personal income tax system? We were talking about this the other night, and Dwayne (who just moved here from Jamaica) said that they don't, but I was wondering if that is just because he never filed!

That's kind of what I thought. Dwayne was "self-employed", so I figured he just didn't file taxes.

Yes, Jamaica has an income tax system as well as a consumers taxation (called GCT - General Consumption Tax and SCT)similar to VAT (UK) and State/Federal taxes on Goods and services in the USA.

Granted there is no enforcement arm of the collector of taxes as there is with the IRS but when caught you can get into some real serious trouble.
