Having Children in JA

What if your American and you marry a JA and then you have a baby in Ja. I am assuming the child is a JA citizen but how would that apply for being an American citizen?

Re: Having Children in JA

a child who is under the age of 18, was born outside the U.S., and has at least one U.S. citizen parent automatically acquires U.S. citizenship upon entry into the country as an immigrant. No further paperwork is necessary. The parent may request a Certificate of Citizenship and U.S. Passport for the child if proof of the baby's American-ness is desired.

US Consular Report of Birth Abroad...

and as of December 31, 2006, EVERYbody down to the baby in arms must have a passport from whatever country they are a citizen of, to enter the US. No more birth certificates only for the little ones, and if the birth cert says jamaica, they are clearly going ot need some other proof of citizenship for US...in the age of terrorism, paperwork is going to be necessary. If the kid is every travelling stateside that is.

HT what is CPW?????

Thanks guys. I know at the end of the year every one needs a passport. But I was wondering if that would be hard to get under the situation I described. But its not.

JC I would think that is dual since your born somewhere but your parents citizenship grants you the same.

Re: Having Children in JA

It is my understanding that the country of citizenship is the automatically the country of your parent's citizenship.
