I also have a good friend who's white, Canadian. Her man lives in Kingston (in the ghetto) and she's lived down there 6 months at a time. She's always able to work or volunteer and just hang. She's leaving again in June indefinitely and isn't worried at all about working.
Hah you might have a better chance as a foreginer. It seems that all the stores are owned by Indians and Pakistanis

see if that link works. its a list of all schools with contact details. ive been living here 5 months now and am just beginning my job search. I recently met another english lady who has been working as a teacher here for the last 30 years. what I know about working in jamaica so far is that it is important to have contacts and make links. its who you know not what you know. if you can make links before you get here even better but dont worry about finding work, just worry about being able to pay the bills with whatever salary you get.

try this too.

http://www.gleaneronline.com/home.ph...aner+Newspaper

whenever i look on websites i rarely see vacancies in Jamaica. However the newspaper is full of them. Just this weekends Sunday Gleaner had loads of teaching jobs. You should be able to get to them on the above site.

Easy now. We all know that this was a deliberately imflammatory remark, probably not based on any beliefs...

In my own experience immigration brings prosperity to countries, certainly in Britain, one of the main reasons for economic success, similar to Southern Ireland has been our recent flux of immigrants.

Hopefully this will be true also for Jamaica....

As for all the shops being owned by Asians... So what.... It's the same here in the UK. They stay open late, work really hard, they deserve success.

Good luck. Nice to hear someone actually "doing it" and not just "talking it".
