alternate telephone service, and other stuff
Hello all,
I am a new member to this forum. If someone has already posted on this topic, I apologize in advance. I am moving to Jamaica very soon, and I need to know if Vonage service is legal. I would like to bring my modem for Vonage service with me, without getting into a problem at the airport. I would also like to know how I can get someone to set me up for this service in Montego Bay. I was in the Bahamas previously, and had a lot of problems with this service, as it was not really legal, and I could not get any help to program my computer to use the service. Is there a place to rent a car at a good price for one month (or more) in Montego Bay? Am I allowed to bring frozen meat in from the US? Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: alternate telephone service, and other stuff
I've lived on other islands for many years, and sometimes it's just such a treat to have meat (special cuts, roasts) from the States. Some Caribbean countries will permit entry of food with no problem; others specify that it must be USA stamped; others still will require a permit. For example, for some time in St. Kitts there was a total ban on US meat, because of the mad cow scare. Just before that, we couldn't bring in any meat from St. Martin, because of the mad cow prevalence in Europe.
So I am trying to get a handle on what kind of regulations are in actual effect in Jamaica....as these regulations change! Thanks for your response. |

Re: alternate telephone service, and other stuff
I'd just bring it in and not claim it in customs.
