Obsessed
Anybody else see this movie over the weekend?
For the ladies, Idris Elba was awesome -- although there certainly weren't enough "skin" shots and those that occurred were in the dark, LOL; and, for the guys, Beyonce was stunning.
The movie, however, was slow and quite predictable.
On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the best, I would rate it a 6.
Your thoughts?

Re: Obsessed - The Movie
I didn't care for the previews.... reminded me of fatal attraction. I find those movies to be a bit toooo disturbing for me.
If I was to take a guess... I wouldn't like it.

Re: Obsessed - The Movie
Okay so we just got back from this movie and....here's my opinion. I loved it and that was one of the best b*tch fights I've seen in a movie LOL. However I'm seriously questioning the whole racial stereotype factor. It pretty much perpetuates a LOTTTTT of black/white issues that are current. And the guy was pretty weak about supporting his arguement all the way through.
My opinion of the movie....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Re: Obsessed - The Movie
Ok due to Ash review of the movie I have just watched it online, I thought it was a cheap version of fatal attraction, nothing to write home about at all. But I did keep looking at the time to see how long was left and wondering if it was going to take a dramatic racial turn due to the comments that I read here.

Almost every movie I've seen with inter racial couples seems to feel it has to point out that one is black...one is white...and somebody is not ok with it..or they have to fit the typical stereo types. I can think of about six or seven movies off the top of my head!
Ash did we watch the same movie? I didn't see any interracial couples, but I did see a rather dishy, happily married man being stalked by a mad, ooman. The movie was not about interracial couples, It was about a crazy stalker intent on wrecking a marriage. I'm struggling to make sense of your comments in relation to this particular movie.
Some of the most common stereo-types I see given where I live:
- White girls who chase after black men are usually ghetto hoes, and half the time the guys they are dating have black women at home here, or where they immigrated from that they are married to or have kids with.
- White girls chase desperately after black men for sex, mixed babies, or because they wish they were black to.
-Lots of white girls get played by black men, and they live this illusion that they are in a loving relationship, when they are just being used.
And this, what does this mean? from a woman who so often states that she does not see colour how/why did race and colour rate so highly in this movie for you? In the context of this movie script was it relevant that the crazy woman was white and her victim was black, was race an issue in this particular movie? if it was then sorry I really have missed it. You truly have lost me and if I am honest I do believe your comments are not really related to this particular movie at all,.......enlighten me if I am wrong, I just dont get the connection at all with the examples that you have raised here.
Thats just to name a few of the nasty ones that people have in their heads...sad really!!
Hmmmmmmmmmm
Here is some things I noticed in the movie:
- Its interesting that it was a black couple..and white stalker.
Really.......Why?
did you watch fatal attraction? same issues........ white couple, what is your point?
Maybe there was no reason for that. But interesting it wasn't three white people...or three black people. Especially in an era where with Jamaica being fashion, and America having a mixed president, being black is in fashion and half the world wishes they were.
You jest right?
- Interesting that the white girl is some desperate women that has some illusion that the man loves her. After all the single people in the office..she singles out the lone happily married black man. Could be a fluke..true!!
Did you see the rest of the people in the office? lol
- Interesting that with all the stereo-types about black men and sex....she seems to be focused on everything sexual the whole movie!!
Hmmmmmmm so was Sharon Stone and Mr Douglas, they are both white
- Beyonce is made to fit the typical stereo-type of a ass kicking black women with no fear who kicks the hell out of the white women chasing her man.
OKKKKKKKK!........ I saw an enraged mother and wife who faught with everything that she had, for her life, her family and home after a mad woman invaded it, and dared to put her hands on her little boy, tried everything in her power to wreck her marriage and then returned to her home to kill her so she could live out her her sick and twisted fantasy.......who wouldnt fight like crazy in that situation????? Where/why did you link that scene to a black stereotype, just because the ACTOR was black? hmmmmmmm.
- Out of all the temps he fooled with..he married the pretty black one..until some sexually obsessed white women comes along and tries to seduce him away from her!!!
Huh?......Did you see the other temps, do you know what race they were, how pretty they were
It might sound like I'm pulling alot of heavy racial things out of no where...but anyone who really watches this movie would have to be blind not to see it!! It just bothers me that people feel the need to make the characters so heavily fit common stereo types!!
I really watched it and I am not blind, but guess each of us will see it from our own perspectives and where we are at Ash!

Re: Obsessed - The Movie
I didn't see the movie and will wait to form my own opinion, but, I heard Beyonce whopped that biotches ass!!! lol, but i agree, being black has nothing to do with standing up for your family, you'd be surprised the things u can do once a little adrenaline kicks in! lol
