Re: Bob Marley A Legend

I agree that Bob is a Legend

but I think it's a shame that when people start talking about reggae music they often only know Bob Marley........there's so much more
Bob Marley opened the way for this other artist by making reggae popular outside Jamaica that's for sure and therefore he also is known as the ambassador of Reggae

You talkin' bout Rastaman Vibration. It's not made out of hemp. The fine print is on the right side inside the folder.(Right beside the lyrics of Rat Race).
"This Album Jacket is Great for cleaning Herb".
It got a little ruff surface.

What I am getting bored of is, that if I listen to a German public radio station,
they all play B.M.W. sometimes but always No woman, no cry, Could you be loved and One love.

I was growing up with European Pop music, like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran,
Erasure,etc.
But from my childhood I still remember bands like Sweet, Bay City Rollers, Showaddywaddy and so on(funny isn't it?)
So while I was listening to pop music the same time I started listen to Prince who became my favorite for a long time.
Then Hip Hop came into my life. I always cared more about the music in the beginning instead of the present. The biggest thing to me was when I got to know Kool DJ Herc(The Godfather of Hip Hop)(mostly unknown cause he never released a record).
Kurtis Blow(The first rapper who got a major record deal)
...and Mister Zulu himself Afrika Bambaataa.

I began listen to reggae real late, I was in my early 20's. I knew some dancehall tracks, that's automatically if you listen to Hip Hop. But once I got hooked on reggae, I started to dig deep into history.

So nowadays 10-15 years later I still love to jam to the newest Dancehall-Tracks but also I love to chill out on the old roots-reggae, ska, rocksteady-Artists like Prince Buster, U-Roy, The Maytals, The Wailers(includes Bunny & Peter, Junior & Beverly), Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, Max Romeo, Inner Circle, and so on.

Smile Re: Bob Marley A Legend

I love Bob Marley! Last week I visited The Bob Marley restaurant at Universal Studios at Orlando, FL. We couldn't go in because it was way too many people waiting for a table. My daughter was disappointed because she wanted to eat there. It happens to be a Bob Marley reggae Fest at City Walk and it was a nice tribute to Bob. Even the hotel I was staying at was playing Bob Marley's music all week.
