Thanks for those links too lamejo, I got a chance to see my Jamaican heritage in other parts of the globe.
Oh no problem Bacardi. Actually I've noticed that many countries in the world, more than I expected, have their own reggae festival.. and this is absolutely fantastic!!!
Take a look at this site, it's very interesting, (maybe you already know it) it keeps you updated about reggae concerts and festivals around the world!!

Re: Bob Marley A Legend

Hey sexyfigure a suh the Honarable Robert Nesta Marley boring? I think his music is great it fits the bill of roots, rock and reggae. Plus its easy to listen to unlike many of the other musical genres out on the market now.

Marley's music have place Jamaican heritage on tha map. Take for example his song "One Love" it is known globally. Look at Jimmy Cliff, Look at Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Shabba, ShaggyLexxus, Alozade, Sizzla, Capleton, Buju Banton, Bounty etc.

Marley opened doors for our local artistes now so much so that a few have perfected their skills on the international stage and come away with many accolades and awards.

We can't diss the man Bob.

I understand where you are coming from too. I grew up on Bob's music too and never truly appreciate it while growing up. I started to listen rap when rap was good then like LL COOL J, biz markie, slick rick, big daddy cane, tupac, beastie boys etc. During my teenagehood I switched to dancehall, baby wayne, buju, professor nuts, cobra, ninjaman, yellowman, tiger, capelton, jigsy king, tenor saw etc. Now in my late 20's and I am more diverse. Now i appreciate music for what it is - more than the rhythm and beats.

I have been in the USA for 16months and where I am reggae and dancehall music is not present. The most I get is thanks to Sean Paul for crossing over and Elephant man. Now I truly miss Jamaica's musical heritage and miss hearing our songs more often.

Re: Bob Marley A Legend

The legend lives on. The song "One Love" is actually beamed out into space (from a time capsule wandering in outer space) along with other earth images and facts that might make any "alien" warm to us earthlings and not attack our silly as*.

Bob Marley on Mars

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT WAS with extreme pride when I learned that the choice of music mission control in Pasedena, California used while they tried to get the wheels of the Mars Rover 'Spirit' up and going, was none other than Bob Marley's, 'Get UP, Stand Up', as reported by the BBC this week.

That just goes to show how Bob Marley's music and message continue to defy time and space. Just think, they could have chosen a Beatle or Sting hit but no, it just had to be the incomparable Bob Marley.

I am, etc.,
