Alton Ellis, one of our founding fathers in Jamaican rocksteady, the harbinger to our modern reggae, has passed away in the UK.

Condolence to his wife and 20 children.

Although I don't know who he is, I hope he rests in peace. I'm sure he's part of the reason reggae is what it is today.

Alton Ellis reminds me of my ex partner - summer of 1976 - he played Alton's album all day and night. RIP

JC, I will play one of his albums for you. He is an old timer that I fell in love with when I first went to Jamaica and had Trevor take me to a music store to get the album. It is more a soothing beat than the new stuff. He was real cute when he was young (pic on album). No wonder he had 20 children.
