Lightbulb Reggae Dictionary

Yeah you can go to this site and view the REGGAE DICTIONARY http://niceup.com/patois.txt

(I know when you listen to Reggae music there are some words you might not understand or know in what context it was used...so this link above will try and help you).
One love.

Re: Reggae Dictionary

Ok, one thing I gotta say. There was this forum where it asked how we newbies got here and I said something about going to lots of places over the past year. Well that doesn't exactly say how I got HERE, cuz now i can't remember.
BUT, you got me all excited when you mentioned www.niceup.com because that was probably one of the only places I could listen to reggae for a LONG LONG time on the computer! I'd sit here workin or whatnot and have that going in the background. Problem was I could never figure out who was singing what because I was too busy or scattered or stressed to go to the text archives etc. It was painful and LONELY. And that went on for a long time.
Then I went to the library and ordered every CD I could find which wasn't much and copied them. By that time I totally quit listening to my car radio you understand and was only listening to my CD'S. (still am).
Here's where the Patois comes in... I had to learn what I was hearing! Even some of this music that was popular when I was a teenager or in my 20's was now totally new. I had to learn another language. Even one world could throw it off. And ALL of the "popular" well-known songs from way back then totally CHANGED! I had missed an entire movement and I wondered who else had. Why now I thought? Why now? And how did I miss this? No matter.
I told you I was a Newbie, in more ways than one. But there's more than just the music.
Anyway, niceup kept me going spordically for a good time, then the library, now it's xmradio... later I'll find real people... but no matter what I just won't quit.
Thanks so much,
Peace!
Kat

Re: Reggae Dictionary

Oh one more thing before I sign off and get to Reality and dishes and well... other good things too. It's so wonderful when you do understand the "language"... that is the moment when it all feels so good.
