Re: Jah Cure

He's scheduled to get released July 28th, which is, coincidentally, my birthday. I'm hoping a little earlier and a surprise appearance at SumFest.

As a sidenote, his manager, was jailed recently in Miami for a drug-related offense.

I think he'll ge to come to the US. He has family in Miami.

If you're referring to Reflections (the one you posted the lyrics to), he was asked to sing that song long after the two guys wrote it. If he had declined, it would have been someone else's song.

Anyway, I don't think persecute is a good word for it. He's in jail, doing his time. Whether or not somebody likes him or not doesn't matter much to him.
Personally, I think he'll come out and continue with a great career. I'm sure he'll learn from his mistakes... because he can make a whole lot more money outside jail than from within. Plus, when you're that hot, you don't need to rape to get *****, lol.

I also don't think people will hold it against him... if performers couldn't be sucessful due to criminal records we wouldn't have Akon, Jay-Z, Shyne, most of the G-Unit thugs, etc, etc... the list goes on and on. The only difficulty is with touring of course. I've been involved in a few failed concerts here where the performer or one of the crew couldn't get across the border. It's pretty annoying from our perspective because of all the money you lose in a failed show (i.e. thousands).

I have acturally had people to get mad at me in Jamaica for liking Jah Cure and saying to me why do you like him for! because he is a rapitst! and that of course pissed me off...so now you see where I am coming from...

Whether Jah Cure is hot or not and I am saying he raped anyone I am just saying pum pum with some women if free all day long....it other words no one has to rape anyone these days but yes, it happens.

The song Reflections fits him properly and that's what made me take notice of him as a matter of fact I sent those words to someone I know in prison...becasue the words of that song is very poweful....

Now don't get me wrong here but let's keep it real..when it comes to us blacks coming across any border they give us a hard way to go famous or not...but like I said before my prayers go out to him that every door and border of the outside world opens up to him and the prisons doors stay locked behind him once he leaves that place I call hell....

Oh don't bring that one up! Actually, that was a lucky miss for us. We were going to bring him here on the same tour (Movado and Busy). Usually we need to get the artist on a "B" city price...i.e. less than what they play Toronto or Montreal for... because we can't fill as big a venue, obviously in London or Windsor etc. So luckily, they stayed too high and we didn't book them. LUCKY...!!!!

Yes Divine, I hear you. Judge not a man on his past... if you hate everyone who has done wrong at some point in their lives, then you don't have alot of choice for friends.

I think you look at this in a positive and logical fashion, and I agree with what you are saying. Sadly there are also those out there who deny he could have done any wrong, simply because they like him as a singer... and I find that infuriating. You know what I mean.

Re: Jah Cure

I still don't know how I feel on the subject. You know I get biased opinions from the family, of course. And, I read all the articles on the whole arrest and subsequent investigation. This is one where I am torn between what to believe.

Re: Jah Cure

Nuh build great man a tuff tune fi real urban nah stop play it!

Jah cure wasn't a sweetheart before he went in, the caught him for more then the rape alone. Thats why u can can see True Reflections as a confession but who says he confess about the rape...If they sentence a person with as only evidence voice recognition it's kinda questionable dont it? Then again if a man in jail innocent*innocent don't you think him would fight untill he drop down to get out? What do we know anyways only what we read and hear...I said from day one that I do not care what the man did it really isn't my business. He has to live with whatever burden he is carrying. What some people say about the reactions from people in Jamaica is true inna way, my husband's family don't want to hear anything about Jah Cure. My hubby arranged for me to spin couple a tunes downtown Mobay and trust me Jah Cure was what they wanted to hear! I believe the country kinda divided in that, I just wonder wha go happen when he comes out lots of people hold a big grudge against him so I truly Hope That Jah Jah Bless him!

I just know I will never ever stop play his tunes, the man Wicked!

Well it can't really be his confession... it was written before he ever heard it.

Re: Jah Cure

i dont know fully the history on the case I just heard second hand that he was having sex with a 16 yr old and the parents freaked and pressed charges?? I had this same dilemma about R Kelly though. I wasnt much into rnb music at the time but remember feeling digusted that anyone could give the man money by paying for his CDS. and hey guess what, i heard his music, loved it and bought it. In any case I work with offenders who have done horrific things and i communicate with them on a daily basis without judgement, so i guess ill just keep listening to the music without judging.
