SPRING BREAK....gone wild! - Jamaica Talk

I saw it Negril once and it made me sick what people will do in the name of Spring Break. And my Jamaican friends that I was staying with pretty much shake their heads in disgust at what the Americans were doing too. And ever since I've made it a point NOT to go during that time.

I was proud to say that I "was NOT with them" and every time this crap broke out in a club me and my JA friends would leave.

What do you all really think about the whole Spring Break - girls gone BUCK WILD thing?

I must confess that I did go to Jamaica on spring break (Negril) this past march.and I plan on going back again this next spring break (because thats about the only time of the year I have a nice break away from school).

Although..i sure wasn't 'one of them', I did see many of the things that I assume your talking about JC. I dont know what makes people think that just because they are away from home..that they can act a fool like that. Seriously ..i was disgusted myself. Maybe they think that since they are away that anything that goes on on vacation..will just stay there.. no strings attached or repramations.
but i look forward to reading later post to see how they Jamaicans who have seen this behavior feel.

Just as they are a disgust to all my JA friends that have to live there through Spring Break! I guess they're lucky it only lasts a couple weeks and livin' in a tourist trap like Negril its unavoidable.

I have never been for Spring Break, probably never will go....I don't want to be around a bunch of drunk abnoxious college kids...kills the vibez...know what I mean?? I like a little solitude..and when I am ready hit the clubz...I don''t need to have people acting like idiots and puking and carrying on...not my scene

I agree not wanting to vacation for spring break! I wouldn't want to go then either! Us crazy Americans do unbelieveable things, It's embarrassing!

I know Jamaicans think were all whacked!!!

I went for my "spring break" last year and didn't see another spring breaker the whole time. lol Once again I say... there is life out of montego bay and negril!

Maybe your spring break wasn't the same as college spring break but I was there for American college spring break and it sucked! I don't like partying with partiers. I'd rather party with jamaicans!

I know what you're saying JC. I find that people do disrespectful things in other people's countries, that they would never do in their own. A lot of it is because they think they won't se anyone they know, and also they don't have respect for the fact that they are not just going to a vaccation spot, they are visiting a community, and should respect certain things. My family in the West Indies have been complaining since I was young about tourists coming into the country getting drunk, naked and acting fools on the streets where there are children and stuff. To me, you can wild out, and BRUK OUT as much as you want whether Spring Break or not... just make sure that your actions are appropriate for the envronment you're in and try to have respect for the people and communities around you, especially when on vaccation in another country. Pay attention to their customs, and make sure you are not offending them in your actions.

ahh it will never stop. thats what most people are fed is the idea behind spring break. and it didnt help that MTV went to jamica either and polictical leaders arent going to stop it b/c of economical reason. and trust me..they act that way over here...we have 2 major spots for spring break( daytona and panama city, fl) locals complain every year..but spring breakers bring in so much to these places that nothing really changes

HUGE revenue. I went to Daytona for bike week a decade ago, and the minute the motorcycles left, the young'ns came in... BOOM. SPring break. Chaos! THe short time that i was there, 2 deaths occured from drunks falling off their hotel balconies. For a bunch of college kids, they sure are st00pid!

exactly..daytona locals have been trying to cancel spring break for years...and with little success. only thing that has change is more restrictions. like what the women can wear on the streets(No more thongs)..emm if they think a girl is showing her tits, they will arrest her w.o question.

Spring break is approaching again so I thought I'd bring this thread back. Anyone have plans on being in Negril for it? Anyone plan on being disgusting while there?

I feel the same way you do...I avoid spring breakers and try not to go to Jamaica doing that time. I wait for them to leave. I have been there before and I don't like how much of a fool Americans, yes my counterparts make other Americans look bad by there careless and foolish behavior.

Now, I like to have fun but I am very conservative and carry myself like a lady should with flair and good taste.
