I have had many conversations with friends there about politics and the violence that goes along with it...its always very frustrating to me when i hear it...

Fruit punch followed immediately by rum cream and tia maria on ice (don’t ask)

Was from a buffet a bit of everything, I was starved…

Priory beach party (yeah it happened way back when too… since dinosaurs roamed the earth I’m sure)

Leaving… actually not true.. that trip had it’s share of drama but it’s so far behind me I cant even begin to remember what it was about… some dude I imagine lol

I went back once about a year later then ended up finding my inner carnival baby for many years, too many trips to Barbados, no money for Jamaica… found my way back about 4 years ago and been 12 times since

Grew up understanding it, many people in my neighborhood/social circle were/are jamaican

• When did you first try to speak the local dielect?

I don’t.. I’m Canadian… I speak Canadian

• When did you first taste the local cooking, not preapred at the hotel; or a tourist restaurant?

First day, had some stew chicken… I’d had Jamaican food plenty in Toronto previously so it was no surprise

Cow foot soup, but that took me years on years… only tasted by accident!

Ummm… my gf had been 2 months prior so I met everyone she knew in the area within 2 days

Yes, route taxi, maxi taxi, and knutsford (that’s the stoosh version of public transport )

Members of my husbands family are both, I have seen one family member on the front page of the gleaner frequently, but I’ve only met the son, who is quite infamous in certain circles I guess

Yes, cassava piece, some areas of spanish town... driven thru plenty of areas where i didn't care to stop too...

Not on the island… plenty of times in Toronto… some gals can be much ruder up here…

This weekend in montreal I met, Kymani, Capleton, Anthony B & Little Hero

Drove through spanish town on the way back from Nine Miles. The country life.. but hung out noo

Met yes,… spent any time in their company, no…

Yes, I have a few friends who are Kingston cops… and no, they don’t/won’t discuss it, even if I ask… either they don’t want to scare me or their jobs are more boring than one might suspect… they will however tell me every traffic infraction that is occurring on the road as they drive… lol

That shooting that D witness as achild must have been very traumatic for him; even now,.
