Well they don't exactly have signs telling you where you are ..where I was...lolol
And I also did not see the well ff persons, financial portfolio...I just know that the house they lived in was very nice and judging by the location it was a pricey neighborhood
Really when i am in JA I almost never even know what parish I am in....I don't ask a lot of questions, about where we are going...I just go

Re: Your fist time.....
Has any locals ever told you first-hand about any violent incidents that ever occured in the past?
Have you ever met any locals who profess to be "bad-boys", ie, gang, drugs, guns, etc?
Do you have any local law-enforcement (police/soldier) friends? If yes, have they ever talk to you about crime and violence in Jamaica?
Has anyone ever told you about political violence back in the 80's and 90's, even?.

No. I don't roll with that kinda crowd.
Do you have any local law-enforcement (police/soldier) friends? If yes, have they ever talk to you about crime and violence in Jamaica?
Yes, a police officer. I actually stayed at thier home during campaigning in 2003. I heard every day when he came home from work, if any people died that day or what went on that day.

Re: Your first time.....
This is based on my first time as an adult (teen) as I don’t remember my first time as a child - The first thing someone (a local) said to you, on arrival?
Probably welcome to Jamaica… - What was your first drink?
Fruit punch followed immediately by rum cream and tia maria on ice (don’t ask)- What was your first meal?
Was from a buffet a bit of everything, I was starved… - What fun thing did you first do?
Priory beach party (yeah it happened way back when too… since dinosaurs roamed the earth I’m sure)- What was your first disappointing moment?
Leaving… actually not true.. that trip had it’s share of drama but it’s so far behind me I cant even begin to remember what it was about… some dude I imagine lol- How soon after being there did you first decide that you just had to return once again?
I went back once about a year later then ended up finding my inner carnival baby for many years, too many trips to Barbados, no money for Jamaica… found my way back about 4 years ago and been 12 times since- When did you first understand the local dielect spoken between two locals?
Grew up understanding it, many people in my neighborhood/social circle were/are jamaican- When did you first try to speak the local dielect?
I don’t.. I’m Canadian… I speak Canadian - When did you first taste the local cooking, not preapred at the hotel; or a tourist restaurant?
First day, had some stew chicken… I’d had Jamaican food plenty in Toronto previously so it was no surprise- What food did you first reject but eventually tasted?
Cow foot soup, but that took me years on years… only tasted by accident!- When did you make your first local friend?
Ummm… my gf had been 2 months prior so I met everyone she knew in the area within 2 days
---------------
these ones are a little easier... - Have you ever been to downtown kingston?
Yuppers, many times - Have you ever taken a local public transportation?
Yes, route taxi, maxi taxi, and knutsford (that’s the stoosh version of public transport )- Have you ever been in any social circle and you were the ONLY foreigner there?
Just about every trip… - Have you ever been in any 'hostile' area?
Yes, cassava piece… many times- When were you first (if ever) in fear?
I fear my life every time I cross the road… damn traffic... - Have you seen/met any rich/affluent locals?
Been to mavado’s house
Members of my husbands family are both, I have seen one family member on the front page of the gleaner frequently, but I’ve only met the son, who is quite infamous in certain circles I guess- Have you ever been to any area down there considered as the ghetto?
Yes, cassava piece, some areas of spanish town... driven thru plenty of areas where i didn't care to stop too... - Have you ever been verbally attacked by a local?
Not on the island… plenty of times in Toronto… some gals can be much ruder up here…

Re: Your fist time.....
ohhh more...
- Has any locals ever told you first-hand about any violent incidents that ever occured in the past?
Yes… end of story- Have you ever met any locals who profess to be "bad-boys", ie, gang, drugs, guns, etc?
Met yes,… spent any time in their company, no… - Do you have any local law-enforcement (police/soldier) friends? If yes, have they ever talk to you about crime and violence in Jamaica?
Yes, I have a few friends who are Kingston cops… and no, they don’t/won’t discuss it, even if I ask… either they don’t want to scare me or their jobs are more boring than one might suspect… they will however tell me every traffic infraction that is occurring on the road as they drive… lol
