The plumber just left, and left me with a bill that's about exactly what 3 nights/4 days at a four-star AI would run me. So there goes that glimmer of hope for another trip within the next year. My plumber will probably go in my stead. I hope he has a great time--soaking up the Red Stripes and the rum punches that should be mine. I should have asked him before he left to send me a postcard.

I'm really bummed about this setback in vacation plans, though it is a relief and a secure, trouble-free feeling having brand-new plumbing in my kitchen, including a new Evolution in-sink-erator garbage disposal (as quiet as a purring kitten). The plumber dude said I could run a whole chicken thru that in-sink-erator, though he didn't recommend it.

Even so, I am tempted to run down to the grocery and get a whole chicken to run thru the in-sink-erator just to see if it's true.
