How does Air Jamaica compare to other airlines?
I can't wait to sample a short domestic flight in Air Jamaica in a little over a month but I want to know what your experiences with the airline are.
My favorite airline is American Airlines and am also a lover of the other airlines also based in Texas (Continental and Southwest) and will be taking American down to Jamaica. From what I've seen in another thread I hope Air Jamaica is better than Spirit. I love to fly but hate to say that U.S. Airways is my least favorite airline although I thoroughly enjoyed them getting me into Milan and out of Rome safely last year.

I love air Jamaica...have had some trouble with my airfare once but they eventually straightened it out and I really wound up just flying free. The staff is friendly and helpful and The food is good, ackee and saltfish on the morning flight and fish and rice on the evening ones....sometimes they are delayed but so is EVERYTHING ELSE in Jamaica so why should they be any different. lol

Re: How does Air Jamaica compare to other airlines?
American Airlines is a airline I will never fly again after they left my luggage in Miami on my last visit to JA and it took them 3 days to get it to me even tho they had 7 flights from Miami after they left my luggage.
I have traveled on Air Jamaica several times and have not had a problem so far, the staff is great and since I am coming from Calli to JA it is a overnight flight and so far no problems. I sleep on the way over so I am ready once we land, it is the only way to go to JA to me.

AJ, like all the rest, is hit or miss.

The only thing I didn't like about that was it was still pre-pre-pared food. I wanted some elderly Jamaican woman in a kitchen cooking the real stuff.
Some of the delays require a lot of Rum too.

My favorite. Plus some fried plantain and dumplings. Add a side of callaloo and I'm one happy camper.

Fried plantains are the best. I love the way my mom makes them. I always thought fried plantains was a Nigerian dish....haha. I can't wait to try some in Jamaica.
I need to come up with a list of food to try in Jamaica.

Re: How does Air Jamaica compare to other airlines?
Just want to big up Air Jamaica!!! been searching for days for a last minute airfare and was very discouraged at all the stopovers and thing in order to get a good fare...today I went str8 to Air Ja found directs nonstop flights in both directions....and the whole damn thing was only 475.00 which blew every other deal out of the water...unless i wanted to fly American ailrlines and travel for like 17 hrs each way and make 10stop overs then I could pay 421.00...good old Air Jamaica...I love to hate them...and they always have the best fare for me in the end.....and If you live in FL and can get some 99.00 each way deal please don't tell me about it cause then i will cry!

Re: How does Air Jamaica compare to other airlines?
Very convenient if you're going out of JFK -tons of direct flights. They have NEVER been on time and I've taken it quite a bit. BUT, the great food and staff somewhat make up for the delays. Had great chicken and other stuff.
That was a while ago, though-Do they really still serve food?? If, so amazing compared to the others.
The old jokes were "Air Jamaybe" or "Air did ja make it".
