Possibly going to Sunset at the Palms for the first time. They are booked until around august 20th. Is this too Late ? I plan on spending every possible minute at the beach and my biggest fear is going on a 5 day vacation and having it rain the whole time!! Do i need to worry about hurricanes etc... thanks for the info!

I've been in August a few times and loved it. It was particularly quiet which made it easier to get through immigration and customs. And, the streets are a little less congested. Didn't have any rain issues. Did notice the mosquitoes were a little more active. Hurricane season officially starts in October and even then the rain is hit or miss.

One thing to note, even if the travel forecast you pick up on the net says it will rain, it could be way up in the mountains and you'll never see any on the coastlines. And, even if it does rain in Jamaica, it could be every day for a few minutes....to a few hours. In 14 times I have been to JA, only about 3 days were completely rained out (and 2 were cause of a hurricane).

I wouldn't sweat the rain part at all.

Oh...it's impossible to know wah will happen around then. Weather is to unpredictable anywhere to really know. What I would do is plan for the worst and no matter what you won't be dissapointed! But...if it does make you feel better, when I was there last year in the beginning of August, it only rained one day. The power went out in all of Negril...but that was ok...we still had fun and it came back on later in the day! Don't worry...be happy!!

Actually JM the Atlantic hurricane season, which affects Jamaica, runs from June 1 to November 30. ok

Actually, If I remember correctly, there was a tropical storm that was forcasted to come near JA the first week in August last year, but it went North to Florida and faded out. I was juss praying that it would wait until I made it to JA...I didnt mind getting stuck dere!!!


BUt seriously...don't worry about it and juss prepare for rain everyday..then you will be very happy!!!!
