I was going to say..... stay away from peeps on the beach that approach you, I use to know an undercover cop that targeted tourists on the beach

If it is like it usually has been for me......a ride of more then a half hour from the airport will usually mean a "rest stop" by your taxi/bus driver. Someone will usually pppssssstttt you and offer then.

Oh yeah..forgot about that! That reminded me of my very first trip to JA with my mom.... That rest stop... I wasn't interested in the Ganja but then the guy was trying to convince me of a party later that night....LOL... freaked my mom out juss a bit. memories...that was a fun trip!!

I am renting a care at MoBay airport and driving down to Treasure Beach...Should i be worried about getting stop by the police with weed in the car?

renting a car that is..not a care...which is what im looking for while down there...

Gosh...I know the area pretty well, but for some reason Treasure Beach isn't registering with me.... anyhow, I personally would rent a cab and not a car....dem r crazy down dere!!! And all dat honking scares the beejeebies outta me!!! LOL

If Treasure Beach is near Negril, I have a number for a guy that I highly reccomend to drive you around! He is reliable, inexpensive, and very kind! Let me know if you are interested!

Thank you for the offer...but i kind of like having the freedom to go and explore the surrounding areas. Treasure beach is the area of frenchman's bay and calabash bay..

Treasure Beach is pretty far from the airport, Spice. It's southeast of Negril....a pretty long taxi ride. Lots of people rent cars without issues, T.

Treasure Beach is an absolutely wonderful place to vacation. It has lots of local flavor, but not a busy tourist place. The sunsets are breathtaking. Although I have never stayed overnight there, I have visited several times. Contact Mair by PM on this site. She stays there every time she comes to Jamaica and has posted photos of the area. Go back to Jamaica trips and see if you can find her posts.

The road to Treasure Beach isn't real good. It will be an experience for you if you have never driven in Ja, but if you are adventurous, go for it.

There are a couple of local restaurants that have good selections, just little places, but willing to please.

As far as the Pssst, don't worry about it. You will have plenty of opportunity to purchase.

Also don't forget your friends here. Post a trip report when you return. Have a great time.

Now im debating renting a car...i may just rent a car hire to take us to treasure beach and then rent a motorcycle once we get there..not sure..ill do a search of Mair and her posts to see if i can glean so more helpful information. You bet i will post a trip report and pics when i get back.

Never been to treaure beach, but it sounds lovely.

Regards hiring a car, this is something I've done several times in Jamaica, but it is never straightforward, but always interesting. Don't just take the first car you are offered, have a good look at it, if it's great, then take it, if not ask to see something better, it'll ussually be right there.

Never been on a motorbike in JA, but beware the roads are not always smooth - to say the least - you may drive over a pothole/puddle and never be seen again.

I think with your spirit you're going to have a great time. May try Treasure beach myself this time, heading out week on Monday. Ussually circumnavigate the Island but never stopped off there - yet.
