My relationship is completely different and I wonder if this is weird. Well it's not even a relationship per say maybe just a friendship. I met him in August when I was there we hung out 6 of the 10 days I was there. By the end of it I was in a whirlwind. Things seem to happen so fast, I almost couldn't catch my breath. I didn't exchange numbers because I didn't think he would effect me the way he did. I thought I would be able to go home and forget about him and just think of it as a good vacation.

I got home and realised I missed how much fun we had and kind of kicked myself for not getting his number. I tried to wait it out knowing I was planning on returning in February. I couldn't wait within a month of being home I booked another trip for November without even talking with him.

I got on the plane nervous and thinking I was crazy for doing this, but all my fears and anxiety was cleared when I went to see him and he was surprised and happy to see me. It was a short stay I only stayed 6 days but we hung out all 6 days. I had a good time, There was no talk of relationships since both of us are in one but I am going back in february like I originally planned and will be going to see him again. I just really enjoy his company. we have fun together, laugh and he treats me very good. It just seems funny how we act like were together when we see eachother but we don't talk about it. I came home and didn't miss him as much because I have his contact information and I know I will go visit him in a couple more months.

God... all of this brings back so many memories...

Lillywhite... if it makes you feel better it took me 4 years to get over my relationship... we went as far as getting approved for a fiance visa and then we both got cold feet. Since then we have stayed in contact, but I had to go cold turkey for about a year and half so that i could get some perspective and move on with my life. The bottom line... it gets easier, but it's kind of like being an alcoholic (hence the title of this thread). You can't do it a "little" because you have to be able to heal emotionally.

I still love my dear JA guy, but also realize that the kind of relationship we were going to have was going to be one that was ripe with issues... issues that would only tear us apart eventually...knowing myself. SOO what we have now is a lifelong love...one that is special because we ended it before it tore us apart. We have such beautiful memories and we will always be special to one another. I haven't been to JA in 2 and half years...I am going again in July 2007 and I will definitely see him. But I am really clear about the boundaries... no more pipe dreams about him coming to the US. We dream about the day I can retire and move to JA. We joke about being old and gray but finally being together.

i went 5 times from feb '99 to aug '01 then didn't go back until june '04....and have gone 8 times since then .....

back on the wagon now...not by choice...new financial responsibilities
