I need suggestions as my son and I are travelling. How do I keep a three year old entertained on a plane when he can't run around for three hours?

a favorite toy (action figures are good), coloring book, a few books to read, some finger snacks and have him sit by the window kids love looking at the clouds, if all else fails hope he falls asleep.

can you tell I have experienced this?

my son was always a chatterbox so his questions about where we were going took up a lot of time.

they should have a movie, last time i took a flight to ja in August it was Ice Age , maybe you will luck out and they will have a kiddie movie.

3 is a great age.....they are so curious.

If all else fail benadryl and pray for sleep, I never used this but my friend swears by it ...but she has a 3 year old and a 1 year old, so her hands are full.

my son was 3 when he flew for the first time. be prepared for him to attract lots of attention from other passengers. everyone thought dev was adorable and asked if it was his first time on a plane. our flight was about 4 hrs and he was way too excited to take a nap. i also had visions of puzzle pieces and crayons scattered everywhere so i didn't bring them on the plane. instead, i filled his backpack with his favorite books (which we read over and over), some snacks, small action figures, the portable dvd player, and our saving grace: the pixter. i don't want my son to have video games either. this thing has tons of electronic activities and are much more creative than video games. and when he just about had all he could take of the plane ride, we were touching down in montego bay. perfect timing!

I can see the billion questions coming although he knows where we are going as he asks everyday are we going to JA today, then are we going tommorow

i thought about bringing his carseat too. i'm glad i didn't because it would've been way too cumbersome and i could barely manage all our luggage. but if you're afraid that he won't stay in his seatbelt then the carseat would be essential.

yup i had to deal with the countdown too. he understood it much better when i told him how many days left instead of weeks.

I know this sounds bad MissG but have you thought of trying gravol? Its only a 3 hours flight and gravol will make him drowsy enough to sleep most of the way. Just a thought.
